Topics Standing committees

Constitute topics are built from the variables in the Comparative Constitutions Project’s dataset, which captures the content of world constitutions. The particular variables relevant to this topic are listed below, in the form of survey questions.

Establishes permanent committees with oversight in given policy areas, which often exercise legislative authority when the legislature is not in session. May also specify how members of these committees are selected, and how long they serve.
